Issued as part of the Pan American Exposition series commemorating and advertising the Pan American Exposition held in Buffalo in 1901. 91M of 294 were issued. It is a very popular stamp collected in a large array of formats with one major variety, 294a, which is one of the 3 stamps of the Pan Am. series to have the center inverted.
